Dental implants in Madrid

A dental implant is an artificial root that we place in the maxillary or mandibular bone. This implant has the capacity to integrate in a healthy and natural way with the rest of the tissues of the mouth. The union is not only with the bone, but also with the gum, as most implants are made of titanium, which is a biocompatible material.

We use it when a tooth is missing or has to be extracted. Implantology is the most natural, logical, definitive and innovative option to restore a missing tooth for the rest of your life.

The Madrid dental clinic European Dental Control is one of the pioneering centres in Spain and Europe in operation since the end of the 1980s. The clinic has a high degree of patient satisfaction with more than 10,000 patients in this time.

Dr. Gómez Alcázar: Implantologist of the 2022 in Madrid

The effectiveness is practically total (since in medicine there are no absolutes) and we only place immediate load implants; there has not been a single patient that we have not been able to place them.

For 37 years, European Dental Control has stood out as an expert dental clinic in dental implants in Madrid. 22 years ago, we were among the first to place immediate load dental implants in Spain. For this, we use basal, compressive and cortical implants. We have developed an innovative technique, less invasive and painful with minimal inflammation but much faster and more effective for our patients.

The success of EDC implants

We have developed a highly refined technique to solve each case in a short time and with great quality. According to Dr. Gómez Alcázar, receiving the award for best implant dentist in Madrid: «It is an honour for the family legacy and recognition for the work of 35 years refining this technique with passion».

Types of dental implants

Compressive implants are the simplest of all and solve approximately 80% of cases. Even if there is little bone, they can also be used on occasions. For more complex cases we can use basal implants and cortical implants are for the most extreme cases of bone resorption.

Doctors Gómez Alcázar and Gómez Oliver are national references in the speciality, having created a very safe and effective medical-surgical treatment.

In this procedure, by means of a good internal diagnosis of the mouth with the help of a CT scan to see the bone of each person, a personalised treatment is designed, analysing which of the implants we have is best suited to the patient’s bone and morphological needs. Subsequently, a provisional prosthesis is designed and fitted in the same session at the time of the operation. In this way, you will not spend a single day without teeth. This provisional prosthesis will be placed on the implants until the definitive one is fitted in 1-4 weeks with a small incision in the gum and bone. At Control Dental Europeo, we proceed with minimally invasive interventions, minimising aggression to the tissues. With the help of our cutting-edge technology, we manage to optimise the quality of the result and eliminate post-operative discomfort.

Pioneers in Spain of ‘real’ immediate load implants: cortical, basal and compressive implants

In our dental implant clinic in Madrid, we have been performing this technique for more than 22 years and we have been perfecting it. Thanks to this procedure, we were pioneers and innovators in Spain and, as we have already mentioned, it is non-invasive and less painful for the patient. The operation is quicker and there is practically no inflammation after the intervention.

We carry out the complete treatment of the patient

Both doctors, Carlos Gómez Alcázar and Carlos Gómez Oliver, carry out the complete treatment of the patient. In addition to placing the dental implants, they also design and place the prostheses (without having to go through another external specialist). So as a patient, your entire comprehensive consultation will be with the same doctor.

In addition to placing dental implants, we also design and place the prostheses. All with the same professional.

This personalised knowledge of your mouth will increase the quality of the result, as we can distribute the prosthesis and improve the aesthetics within the possibilities of each bone, always achieving the best articulation.

Specialists in compressive implants

These are one-piece implants with compressive thread. These implants are used for customised cases of restoration with immediate loading in the upper and lower jaw for all types of patients.

They have the versatility of being able to be bent to adapt to the maxillary or mandibular anatomy.

Specialists in basal implants

The basal implant is fixed to the basal bone, which is the bone that does not reabsorb and which is fixed to the bone walls in order to achieve the implant’s corticalisation to obtain that hardness.

They are a dental implant used when there is little bone. Its versatile design allows us to solve those implants that have little bone structure, as it can be placed in areas with little bone depth and width.

Specialists in cortical implants

These are one-piece implants with compressive thread. These implants are used for customised restoration cases with immediate loading in the upper and lower jaw for all types of patients.

They have the characteristic of being able to be bent to adapt them to the maxillary or mandibular anatomy.

Best technology and material quality

The success of our clinic over time is based on the integral treatment of quality through the best perfected techniques, the most advanced technology and materials for implants of the moment, added to the research, study and innovation of professionals who love implantology.

We do not play with the patient’s gums

Another advantage is that the gum is not opened with a scalpel (it is perforated). Therefore, no stitches are used. In this way, we achieve the placement of intraosseous implants on which, at the time, a temporary fixed prosthesis is placed which will remain in the mouth for between one and four weeks. These periods depend on whether or not extractions have to be carried out and the number of teeth to be replaced. Subsequently, this will be replaced in this time by the definitive prosthesis.

How are implants placed?

No scalpel, no stitches, no blood. We have developed a refined and proven technique that makes this possible. We only perforate the mucosa with the drills, which minimises trauma and there is no blood or inflammation. The design of the self-tapping and compressive implants makes this technique a breakthrough and the fact that we can use them immediately puts us ahead of the future. On the other hand, the gum is not opened and no stitches are used. This reduces the possibility of infection and problems by leaving the gum intact. On these implants, we place a temporary fixed prosthesis that will remain in the mouth for between one and four weeks, depending on the number of teeth to be replaced and whether or not extractions are carried out.

When is the right time to have implants?

In the event of any missing or oblivious teeth, you should consult whether it is possible to recover the tooth or whether it should be extracted. The best way to replace it is always a dental implant. Our professionals will advise you on the best option and suitable treatment for your case in a clear and professional manner.

As a general rule, immediate load implants are the best solution and the most similar to your own teeth. They can be placed at the time of extraction (immediate implants) or in old extractions. In addition, they can replace a single tooth or all of them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are artificial titanium roots that replace missing teeth.

What is the purpose of dental implants?

The purpose of dental implants is to achieve as natural a rehabilitation of the smile and chewing function as possible.

What is the procedure for placing a dental implant?

The procedure with our CDE technique generally involves minimally invasive surgery, in immediate loading, for implant insertion; and minor surgery, in traditional methods.

How long does the process take from the time the implants are placed until the final prosthesis is in place?

Depending on the number of teeth to be replaced and whether extractions are required, this process is completed in 1 to 4 weeks with immediate loading. During this period a fixed provisional is worn over the implants. With traditional loading, the process can take several months, depending on bone healing and the adaptation of the dental prostheses.

Is it painful to place a dental implant?

The traditional procedure is invasive. On the other hand, with the EDC immediate loading technique, an incision is made with a drill and through this small hole we insert the implant, which compacts with the bone and remains fixed to it, reducing discomfort compared to traditional methods.

What are the benefits of dental implants?

The main benefit is to replace missing teeth as naturally as possible. Dental implants can improve the patient’s appearance, chewing function and self-esteem, as well as prevent bone loss.

What are the risks associated with dental implants?

Risks, which are very rare in ECD, include infection, implant rejection or healing complications.

Are there any age restrictions for dental implants?

Generalmente, se recomienda esperar hasta que el desarrollo facial haya terminado, por lo que normalmente se realizan en adultos. De todas formas, es recomendable seguir las indicaciones de su profesional especialista.

What care is required after dental implant surgery?

It is crucial to follow the dentist’s instructions to maintain good oral hygiene and allow for proper healing.

How long do I have to wait after the implant placement to get the final dental prosthesis?

The waiting time can vary, but it is generally 1-4 weeks for immediate EDC loading and a few more months for the traditional technique to allow the implant to integrate properly before the final prosthesis is fitted.

Are there any contraindications to receiving dental implants?

Some medical conditions may not be suitable for implants. For example, during some chemotherapy processes it may be better to wait until the disease is over. In any case, the dentist should be consulted for a full evaluation.

Do dental implants look and feel like natural teeth?

Yes, dental implants are designed to look and feel like natural teeth, providing similar function and aesthetics.

Do dental implants require any special maintenance?

Dental implants are maintained by the professional with visits every six months at the most and an annual X-ray for monitoring.

Is it possible for the body to reject the dental implant?

The body does not reject the dental implant. Very rarely, there are failures due to some complications but titanium is a biocompatible metal.

What are the differences between dental implants and dentures?

Dental implants are permanent with fixed materials resembling the natural root, while dentures are removable. Implants also offer greater stability and comfort. We can say that they are totally different results and sensations that have nothing to do with food tasting, chewing or integration.

Can dental implants help with bite or jaw problems?

Yes, when teeth are missing, occlusion and chewing are disturbed. In fact, dental implants rehabilitate both. Therefore, they can correct bite problems and improve jaw function.

Are there any dietary restrictions after the procedure?

During the period with the temporary teeth of 1 to 4 weeks in the EDC immediate loading technique, certain dietary restrictions may be recommended to avoid damage to the temporary. Subsequently, dental implants behave very similar to natural teeth, so you can eat the same way. In any case, the ideal is to follow the recommendations of the specialist.

How long do dental implants last?

With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime.

Can dental implants affect speech?

Normally, dental implants do not affect speech, but in some cases they may require a short period of adaptation. It can affect until the patient adapts to them.

What is the success rate of dental implants?

In general, the success rate of dental implants is high, with a success rate of approximately 97% or more.
